YOUTH MINISTRIES

OUR MISSION
The Youth Ministry of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church accepts, serves, and encourages youth of all different perspectives, helping them to do Christ’s work in the world by becoming their true selves.
Saint Stephen’s is known for having the strongest youth group in the Diocese of Alabama. The youth in our parish have an incredible presence in diocesan events and diocesan leadership. Two of the 11 members of the Youth Department of Alabama are from Saint Stephen’s. Many youth from Saint Stephen’s are involved in staffing Sawyerville Day Camp, Special Session at Bethany Village, and Foothills Day Camp. Many of the lay rectors of Happening of Alabama have been from Saint Stephen’s, as have many staff members.
After a recent visioning process, the youth ministry of Saint Stephen’s
has defined its core values below:
We care deeply for all youth in our program, and respect their differences and opinions, hoping they will embrace this practice in their everyday lives.
We create an environment where youth can speak freely and with confidence, encouraging one another throughout life.
We minister in such a way that youth can be themselves with each other and our leaders.
We practice truthful and open discussions about life and faith.
We seek to embrace all people and respect their differences.
We strive to live by Jesus ’ example.
