As our parish family began to grow, Saint Stephen’s created a preschool to provide a loving, Christian environment for the children of our parish’s young parents. Each child at Saint Stephen’s Preschool is supervised by trained workers and teachers trained in caring for and teaching children. Their goal is to help all students develop in the areas of social, physical, emotional, and mental growth. Our preschool also provides children valuable preparation for kindergarten.

Their goal is to help all students develop in the areas of social, physical, emotional, and mental growth. Our preschool also provides children valuable preparation for kindergarten.
Today, 125 children (ages 6 months to 5K) from 100 families are enrolled in this highly successful program. The preschool is open to children from outside our parish, and about 20 percent of students are Saint Stephen’s members. Curriculum includes chapel, music, creative movement, Spanish, art and science.. The children participate in a variety of educational experiences suited to their ages, such as exploring their environment; interacting with teachers and other children; learning to respond, listen to, and sing different kinds of music; and enjoying stories, poetry, dramatizations, puppetry, and books. These experiences are designed to strengthen a child’s self-concept and understanding of working as an individual, solving problems in everyday life, respecting other’s rights, and developing the feeling that school is a place where he or she can find love and understanding.
The preschool program operates on a tuition-based annual budget. It is governed by a board of directors with a vestry representative. In addition to its primary mission, the preschool has become a gateway of sorts, as it is not uncommon for preschool families to visit the church and then become members of Saint Stephen’s.
